Gareth is a friend of mine. He has worked hard at being an artist but his attention to detail is often sacrificed in his desire for spontaneity. One of his more fruitful lines of work was using enamel paints on glazed ceramic tiles.
For the most part, his designs were not geometrical but for a brief period he tried his hand at something more organised but being Gareth he would not deign to use a ruler or compass.
One of them in particular caught my eye, the main reason being that the pattern was based on a nine sided polygon. This is to say the least unusual. Obviously I have always known they exist but I'd never worked on one. So I offered to re-create it digitally.
