Spring Morning (Tree No XII)

Perhaps this ought to read 'early morning', ie dawn, since the sun is plainly not up yet. This would indeed have been the title if 'dawn' hadn't already been used for the first tree in the series.
 
The colours used were taken from life following a spectacular dawn seen whilst visiting Park Place in Wickham, Hampshire. The strong contrast between the brilliance of the sky and the foreground which was still in shadow are exaggerated in the image. On the original screenprints, this is less obvious. Of the two portrayals, the scanned picture seems the more vibrant, though the detail of the pattern in the foreground is largely lost
