Autumn Evening (Tree No XI)

As was noted in Summer Afternoon, this print was coloured from nature by observing the seasonal changes to the foliage of a Horse Chesnut tree. It would have been appropriate to colour the sky as for a setting sun but, as can be deduced from Spring Morning, the view towards The Trees is Easterly which means that the sun sets behind our backs. The 'meadows' were as problematic since the original photos were taken in an urban area; the solution adopted was more pragmatic than artistic.
